Editorial Policy
Last updated:This page explains how we research, write, source, and update the content published on Daily Sleep Calculator, including our blog articles and on-page guidance.
Our goal
We aim to explain sleep science in plain language without oversimplifying it or exaggerating it for the sake of a headline. Every factual claim about sleep duration, sleep stages, or sleep health should be traceable to a credible source.
Where our information comes from
We prioritize primary and authoritative sources when researching an article, including:
- Government health agencies, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Professional medical bodies, such as the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM)
- Academic medical centers, such as Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, and university health systems
- Peer-reviewed research published in journals indexed on PubMed/PMC
- Established sleep health publications, such as the Sleep Foundation, when they in turn cite primary research
Each article links directly to the sources used, listed at the bottom of the piece, so you can read the original material yourself rather than taking our summary on faith.
How we write
We paraphrase and summarize research findings in our own words rather than copying text from other publications. Where a specific statistic, quote, or finding is important, we attribute it clearly to its source.
What we don't do
- We don't present anecdotes or personal opinion as clinical fact.
- We don't recommend specific supplements, medications, or treatments.
- We don't accept payment in exchange for a favorable claim about a product or service.
Corrections
If you believe an article contains an error or is out of date, please tell us using the Contact page. We review correction requests and update articles when a factual error is confirmed.

Not medical advice
Regardless of how well-sourced our content is, it remains general information, not personal medical advice. See our Medical Disclaimer for more detail.
